Slidell Police Cop Camp

What is Cop Camp?: Welcome to the Slidell Police Department’s Cop Camp registration page! This two week camp is designed to demonstrate our high standards and give an understanding of the type of preparation law enforcement officers must endure as part of their training. Participants will be exposed (in a controlled environment) to the many aspects of what a law enforcement officer may encounter during his or her daily patrol. Topics may include, but are not limited to: crime scene investigation, defense techniques, special weapons and tactics (SWAT), K-9 demonstrations, ropes courses, the police officer’s role in society, and criminal law. The camp is also a building block to foster an interest for a career in law enforcement, while teaching the importance of being a team player and building self-confidence in the student. By the end of the camp, students will have a better understanding of the law enforcement process, its role in the community, and what it takes to become a police officer in today’s society.

Who may attend Cop Camp?: Participants for Cop Camp must be between the ages of 14 and 18 years of age, currently enrolled in a high school located in Slidell, and be in good academic standing. Are there any fees?: There is a one time, non-refundable application fee of $10.00.

What are the parent / legal guardian responsibilities?: Parents WILL BE REQUIRED to attend an orientation for students who are accepted into the camp. The parents must provide transportation to and from the camp. There is also a parental consent form that must be signed.

Who will be accepted?: The camp is limited to the first 40 qualified applications.
