Please note that in order to attend the Slidell Police Citizens Academy, a basic background check will be conducted due to the sensitivity of information shared throughout the training process. Start at Slidell City Court with Judge Lamz. Walk to the Slidell PD.  Get an overview of each division at Slidell PD, as well as take a tour of the Slidell City Jail

Traffic presentation at the Slidell Regional Police Academy, to include the Motors Division. A presentation will be given to include information on Traffic Safety, Traffic Laws & DWI checkpoints. Academy staff will begin presentation about the Communications Divisions. The class will then travel to Lacombe to tour the new 911 center.

A Slidell Police detective will give a presentation on burglary & robbery. What can be done to protect you house and vehicles? The second part of the night will be led by Defensive Tactics instructors. This will be a hands-on class on to learn how to protect yourself. Participation is encouraged, but not required.

Firearms instructors will demonstrate basic gun safety. You will take a trip to the firearms range where several officers will show how they train on the range. SWAT and K-9’s will also give a live demonstration.

Learn about police officer’s Use of Force…their options of lethal and non-lethal weapons. You will see a live demonstration of the Taser, discuss “pepper” spray, and when weapons are to be used, etc. The class will conclude by a presentation by PIO Daniel Seuzeneau- discuss Facebook, social media, LivePD.
