If you are looking to play a valuable role in public safety, looking for a fast paced, dynamic environment, be part of a respected profession, and want to be the hero behind the scenes...this is the job for you! We must warn you though, this job is not easy and is not for everyone. You must be able to pass a challenging exam that requires you to have extraordinary multi-tasking skills during high stress situations, type 30 words per minute, and work alternating day and night 12 hours shifts (alternating weekends off).
 

Starting pay for an entry level Communications Officer is $13.08 an hour. After 1 year, the rate increases to $13.60 an hour in addition to the possibility of attending the Slidell Regional Police Academy in order to obtain a P.O.S.T. certification, which will increase your yearly pay by $6,000.
 

When you drop off your application, be prepared to take the typing test and communications officer entrance exam (approx. 1hr) OR you can schedule a time to test. Be mentally prepared! If you fail either portion of the test, you must wait 6 months to retest!
